“Robin English is truly one of the sweetest, most caring individuals I’ve known. She charms- no, mesmerizes you while she deftly, passionately wields poetry and intellect to craft music with the true voice of a gifted artist.” George Massenburg- inventor, producer, engineer (James Taylor, Billy Joel, Toto, Dixie Chicks, Journey, Madeleine Peyroux, Little Feat, Randy Newman, Lyle Lovett, Aaron Neville, Kenny Loggins, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Linda Ronstadt, Earth, Wind & Fire, Cher, and many others).
In a storm of long, golden hair, Robin English mesmerizes her audience with gutsy harmonica riffs and her unmistakable sultry, powerful voice. "This Texas gal ... has been... gathering fans and believers in her wake." (Nashville Music Guide)
Robin's single on Sony/Columbia, "Girl In Love," was on GAC's Top Ten videos and Billboard's Top Single Sales for 8 months. She has been receiving standing ovations opening for Willie Nelson. Willie said "she knocked 'em out!"
Robin's most recent album Velvet Covered Brick received rave reviews and produced three hit singles which made Robin one of the Top 50 most played artists for the year in Texas. From the humorous and thought-provoking rewrite of the classic "Mama's Don't Let Your Cowboys Grow Up To Be Babies" to the rich story telling and gritty harmonica playing on "Cotton Field Girl," this album is deep with artistry and entertainment.
Those who hear her, are blown away: "Robin English is a force of nature," Music Row Magazine's music journalist, Larry Wayne Clark.
There's no doubt that "Robin English is a pure artist who needs to be heard...the sooner the better." (Hal Ketchum)
Like many artists, Robin grew up in a musical family and moved to Nashville to pursue her dream. She and her band played in clubs all over town. She wrote over 500 songs with more than 130 songwriters. During that time, she joined a group called the Young Riders which included her friends Blake Shelton, Rachel Proctor, and Ryan Murphey. Before long, the buzz reached Music Row.
Robin signed her first record deal with Sony/Columbia Records. During that time, Sony signed several Texas artists including label mates Jack Ingram, Deryl Dodd, and Charlie Robison. Sony was so impressed with Robin's production style, they asked her to coproduce her album with several acclaimed producers.
During the following year, she recorded with Paul Worley, Kyle Lehning, George Massenburg, and Kim McLean. Her single, "Girl In Love" was on GAC's Top Ten videos and was on Billboard's Top Single Sales for 8 months. Despite receiving critical acclaim the album fell victim to corporate downsizing at Sony and was never released.
Robin has had the great honor of entertaining our troops and has opened for many headliners including Clint Black, Hal Ketchum, Roger Creager, Will Hoge, Brad Paisley, Joe Diffee, Mark Chesnutt, and Willie Nelson. She has also continued to write and perform on albums for great artists such as Reckless Kelly, Joe Diffee, Bob Wills (tribute), and Gene Autrey (harmonica credit for tribute with T. Graham Brown, Marty Stewart, and others).
Robin cofounded Brass Ring Records to focus on her Texas roots while building on the national presence she had established from her Sony days. The vidio of her single "I'm The One" aired on CMT. Robert K. Oermann of Music Row called the single, "Moody, smoky, and sultry." He complimented Robin as one of a few indie artists who are really " stepping up to the plate to challenge the major labels."
"Cotton Field Girl," climbed to the top ten in Texas: a much celebrated success after years of relentless pursuit, performing countless gigs and visiting hundreds of radio stations. Her single "Mama's Don't Let Your Cowboys Grow Up to Be Babies," was also a radio hit and was featured on ESPN.
Robin is currently writing and recording a new project due out in the Spring of 2011. With her unique blend of Texas troubadour story-telling, blues harp playing, and dynamic soulful singing, this velvet covered brick is bound to keep on "knockin 'em out."
